Soon to be out of a job, young mother, Kate Sanders, is thrilled when musician, C. J. Markham, turns up at the motel where she works and offers her a job at his Los Angeles mansion. With young daughter, Polly, in tow, she leaves Monterey to take up her position as housekeeper for the singer. When old friend Vic Tobin turns up unexpectedly, sparks start to fly and Kate finds herself in a quandary.
